To grow ranunculus bulbs, you can follow these steps:

1. Soak the bulbs
Soak the bulbs in room temperature water for a few hours to hydrate them. This will help them sprout faster.

2. Prepare the soil
Mix compost or well-rotted manure into the soil. You can also add grit to improve drainage.

3. Plant the bulbs
Dig holes that are 2–3 inches deep and 6–9 inches apart. Place the bulbs in the holes with the “tentacle” side facing down. Water well after planting.

4. Provide the right conditions
Ranunculus bulbs need full sun and well-draining soil. They should be protected from strong winds.

5. Water regularly
Water the plants about once a week, but more often in hot or dry weather. Sandy soils require more frequent watering than clay soils.

6. Harvest the flowers
Harvest the ranunculus flowers after they have opened and closed a few times.

You can also pre-sprout the bulbs before planting. This involves placing the bulbs in a tray of moist potting soil and covering them with more soil. Keep the tray in a cool place with a temperature of 40–50°F for two weeks. Remove any bulbs that show signs of rotting or molding. Once the bulbs have rootlets, you can plant them in their final growing place.
