To grow tritonia bulbs, you can follow these steps:

When to plant
Plant in spring after the last frost and when the soil is at least 60°F (15°C).

Where to plant
Tritonia bulbs prefer full sun and well-drained soil. You can plant them in a container or directly in the garden.

How to plant
Loosen the soil to a depth of at least 15 cm and mix in bulb food. Plant the bulbs 5–8 cm apart and 5 cm deep, with the pointed end facing up. Cover with soil and water well.

Watering
Water regularly during late winter and spring before the flowers appear. Keep the soil moist but not wet until shoots appear. After flowering, the plants should remain fairly dry during summer and most of autumn.

Fertilizing
You can add slow-release granules to the soil before planting, or fertilize six weeks after shoots appear.

Maintenance
Dig up the bulbs only after the foliage has turned yellow. Aphids may attack the developing flowering buds, and snails and slugs may appear as new growth begins.

Tritonia is a genus of bulbous plants from South Africa with yellow, red, or orange flowers. They are often cultivated as ornamental plants.
