To grow Asiatic lilies, you can follow these steps:

Choose a location

Asiatic lilies grow best in full sun, but can also tolerate partial shade. They need at least six hours of direct sunlight per day.

Prepare the soil

Asiatic lilies can grow in well-drained soil with organic matter, such as compost. Soggy soil can cause the bulbs to rot.

Plant the bulbs

Plant the bulbs in late summer or fall, when the soil is still warm but before the first frost. Dig holes that are three times the length of the bulb, and space the bulbs at least eight inches apart. Place the bulbs in the holes with the pointy end facing up. Water well after planting.

Water and mulch

Water the lilies once a week for about four weeks after planting. Add a layer of mulch to help retain moisture, insulate, and discourage weeds.

Fertilize

In the spring, feed the lilies with a balanced fertilizer.

Remove spent flowers

As the flowers bloom, remove spent blossoms with snips. You can save the seeds to propagate new plants.

Cut back the foliage

When the plant has finished flowering, you can cut back the foliage by fall. The plant will go dormant in the winter.

Dwarf varieties of Asiatic lilies can grow well in pots. You can add pebbles to the bottom of the pot to help with drainage.
