To grow hyacinth bulbs, you can:

Plant in the fall
Plant hyacinth bulbs in early autumn in a sunny location with well-drained, fertile soil.

Prepare the soil
Before planting, remove weeds and add organic matter like compost or well-rotted manure to the soil.

Plant the bulbs
Plant the bulbs 10 cm deep and 8 cm apart, with the pointed tip facing up. Cover with soil and gently firm it around the bulbs.

Water
Water the soil well after planting, and keep it moist but not wet until shoots appear.

Prune
After the blooms die, remove them but leave the foliage, which is necessary for next year’s growth. When the foliage turns brown, cut it back to the ground.

Grow indoors
You can grow hyacinths indoors in a vase of water. Fill a glass vase with water to just below the neck of the vase, and place the bulb in the water so that it sits just above the water line.

Chill the bulbs
If you live in an area that doesn’t get regular frosts, you can chill the bulbs in the refrigerator for 6–8 weeks before planting to simulate a cold winter.

Wear gloves
Hyacinth bulbs can irritate your skin, so it’s a good idea to wear gloves when handling them.
