Sowing the Seeds
1 Fill trays with pre-moistened, fine-textured mix.
2 Place seeds on surface — do not cover with soil. Lisianthus needs light to germinate.
3 Mist lightly to settle them into contact with the mix.
4 Label trays with date and variety.
Germination Conditions
• Temperature: Keep between 21–24 °C (70–75 °F) for germination.
• Light: Provide bright light (12–16 hours/day).
• Moisture: Keep the surface evenly moist but never soggy.
• Humidity: Maintain high humidity (use a dome or cover) until germination.
Timeline
• Germination time: 10–15 days, sometimes up to 20 days.
• Remove cover once most seeds have sprouted to reduce fungal risks.
Seedling Care
• Maintain temperatures at 18–22 °C (65–72 °F) daytime and ~15 °C nighttime.
• Water gently from below or mist — avoid overhead splashing.
• Keep seedlings in bright light to prevent stretching.
• Lisianthus grows very slowly in the first 6–8 weeks — this is normal.
