Bloomingdale II offers a compact habit that is ideal for quarts, gallons and mixed containers. seed allows for streamlined production and early and uniform flowering. Bloomingdale II offers six brilliant colors and one mix.

1. Understand what you’re working with

Ranunculus seeds are tiny and slow — they can take 20–30 days to germinate.

They’re often grown as cool-season annuals in warm climates.

2. Prepare your seed starting mix

Use a fine, well-draining seed-starting mix — peat or cocopeat with perlite/vermiculite works best.

Avoid rich compost at this stage — seedlings like a light, airy start.

Pre-moisten so it’s evenly damp.

3. Fill and level your trays

Use shallow seed trays or plug trays.

Lightly press the mix to make a smooth surface but don’t compact too much.

4. Sow the seeds

Sprinkle seeds thinly on the surface.

Light requirement: Ranunculus seeds need light to germinate, so do not bury them deeply.

Just press them gently into the surface so they have good contact.

5. Cover very lightly

You can sift a fine layer of vermiculite over them — just enough to protect from drying out but still let light through.

6. Water gently

Mist with a spray bottle.

Avoid splashing or heavy watering — seeds can wash away.

7. Provide ideal germination conditions

Temperature: 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) — cooler than most seeds.

Light: Bright, indirect light (or grow lights set low intensity).

Humidity: Cover trays with a clear humidity dome or plastic wrap to keep moisture in.

Vent daily to prevent mold.

8. Germination time

Expect 2–4 weeks before you see sprouts.

Once seedlings appear, remove the cover and move to bright light.

9. Care for seedlings

Keep at cool temperatures (10–15 °C / 50–59 °F).

Water lightly and regularly — don’t let them dry completely, but avoid sogginess.

Start feeding with a diluted liquid fertilizer once they have a few true leaves.

10. Transplanting

When seedlings have 4–5 true leaves and are sturdy, harden them off by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week.

Plant in full sun in rich, well-drained soil.

Space 15–20 cm (6–8 inches) apart.
