Fill a bucket with water and soak the tubers for one to two hours.

Prepare a bed in partial sun or shade. Choose a location with well-drained soil. If drainage is a problem, plant the tubers in a raised bed. For container-grown Persian buttercups, fill a pot with sterile potting soil.

Place the tubers in a small hole, pointed end down, approximately 1 to 2 inches deep and eight to 12 inches apart. Cover with soil and tamp lightly.

Water the bed or pot immediately after planting. Keep the soil moist, but not wet, until the tubers germinate. Shoots should appear in two to three weeks.
