Now available in clear colors—Clear Purple, Clear White and Clear Yellow!
1. Prepare the seed starting mix
Use a fine-textured, well-draining mix (peat moss/cocopeat + perlite/vermiculite).
Avoid heavy soil — seedlings don’t like soggy roots.
Pre-moisten so it’s evenly damp but not waterlogged.
—
2. Fill and level your trays
Use seed trays, plug trays, or small pots.
Gently level the surface — don’t over-pack.
—
3. Sow the seeds
Spacing: 2–3 cm apart if in an open tray, or one seed per cell.
Cover lightly: Pansies need darkness to germinate. Cover seeds with a fine layer of vermiculite or sifted mix (about 3–5 mm / ⅛ inch deep).
Press gently so the seed has good contact with the soil.
—
4. Water gently
Mist with a spray bottle so you don’t dislodge seeds.
Keep the medium evenly moist.
—
5. Provide ideal germination conditions
Temperature: 18–21 °C (65–70 °F).
Darkness: Cover trays with black plastic, cardboard, or even stack another empty tray on top.
Humidity: You can also use a clear humidity dome — just make sure light is blocked until they sprout.
—
6. Germination timeline
Seeds usually sprout in 7–14 days (sometimes faster if very fresh).
The moment you see green shoots, remove the cover and move seedlings into bright light.
—
7. Seedling care
Provide 12–14 hours of light daily (grow lights or a bright window).
Keep the soil just moist — avoid soggy conditions.
Start feeding with a diluted liquid fertilizer (¼ strength) once the first true leaves appear.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into bigger pots.
