When to plant: In most regions of India, the best time to sow phlox seeds is in spring (February-March) or fall (September-October).
How to plant: Fill trays, punnets, or jiffy pots with a good quality seed-raising mix. Sow seeds 3 mm deep. Lightly cover them with about 1/8 inch of soil.
Temperature: The ideal germination temperature is between 16-18°C (60-65°F).
Light: Phlox seeds need darkness to germinate.
Germination: Seeds should germinate in around 14-21 days.
Transplanting: Transplant seedlings to the garden once they have their first true leaves and are large enough to handle (usually 5-10 cm tall).
Spacing: Plant out, spacing plants 15-25 cm apart.
Diseases: Nematodes can be a problem. Treat early with insecticides specific to nematode. If disease problems occur, treat early with fungicide.
